Developed by Carlo Ratti Associati with Walter Nicolino for leading Italian design company Danese/Artemide, Huemid is a light and compact vase made of a smart breathing paper layered with a transpiring material, similar to Gore-tex. Thanks to this flexible and pliant essence, it is adjustable in size, can be stretched to the desired height and is totally adaptable to one’s needs.
Combining the ludic and the educational aspects of farming, Huemid is able to indicate when your plants need watering. Once upon a time, small, hue-changing sculptures were used to show humidity in the air, as a simplified and psychedelic tool for weather forecasting. Huemid uses the same principle to make your garden talk. Thanks to new material technologies, your vase varies in color, communicating its desires and making gardening easy. Your flower pots tell you when to water them, as they never did before.
Urban farming is re-designing the relationship between citizens and nature. Huemid makes your plants breathe and grow, contributing to a new living fabric.
